Photo A Day: Beach Rose at Sunrise, Newport, RI

To try and keep me honest in posting my photos regularly: Welcome to my Photo A Day! Topic: Whatever strikes my fancy. Frequency: Daily-ish, I hope.It seems I kind of have a thing for beach roses. I suppose I had heard of them before, but I am not a person who is knowledgeable about flowers. They never really registered in my brain. Until now. While in Newport, RI, George and I went to the Cliff Walk to watch the sunrise, and entered the Walk at the Forty Steps. If you've never seen the Cliff Walk, it is spectacular, with the Atlantic Ocean crashing into the rugged New England coastline to one side, and the graceful mansions and overgrown brambley back yards of the rich and famous on the other. And beach roses. Lots of beach roses growing wild, up and down the Walk.Someone--it was not me--plucked one of those roses and tucked it into a little depression in the side wall of the Forty Steps stairway. We just happened to find it. And then the sun came up.
