Big Beautiful World 9 -- Amish Softball Field, Lewisburg(ish), PA

I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating, and tell all your friends to pass it along: It’s a big, beautiful world out there. Let’s stop trying to screw it up. What do you say? George and I recently drove past an Amish schoolhouse somewhere out in the back who-knows-where lands of my little corner of central PA. At least, I think it's Amish--it's pretty sparse so if it's not Amish then it's barely-reformed Mennonite. From the front it looks like a standard-issue ranch house, so why would I even check it out? Because I could see the softball field from the road. And it was Sunday, so there were certainly no Amish or just-barely Mennonite kids hanging around the school yard. And it's true; if you build it, they (and by they, I mean I) will come. Into the yard, on a Sunday. To check it out.Amish or not, kids gonna kid. Play ball!
